The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi–Uku , DSPG,Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu has been described as a go-, getter whose administration has raised the bar in service delivery and academic excellence in the instruction.
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, DSPG Chapter,Dr. Michael Ogana who stated this during a chat with the Federated Union of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria , said that Prof. Achuenu as a man who does not believe in sentiments, has remained resolutely committed to prudent management of resources of the instituction.
He emphasized that Prof Achuenu’s simplicity played a significant role in the transparent way has been managing the affairs of the school.
Dr. Ogana said that the Rector’ s outstanding performance so far has pitched the instructions as one the best in the country as evidenced by his numerous achievements and accomplishments.
The ASUP Chairman reaffirmed the confidence of the Union and staff on Prof. Achuenu for his impactful leadership and advised the Governing Council Chairman to stop de- marketing the polytechnic through blackmail and other forms of distractions
” He said” Prof. Achuenu deserves to be commended for the good work he is doing and not condemnation for no just cause.”
According to him, Prof. Achuenu in his first three years in office was using his personal car but prioritized the provision of official cars for the bursar, librarian and registrar.
Dr. Ogana the coming of Achuenu was indeed a great blessing to the institution adding that some of the remarkable achievements of the Rector’ include: accreditation of more Academic programmes , road taring, perimeter fencing, provision of solar powered street lights, connecting electricity to the school and attracting numerousTETFUND projects to the institution.
He therefore frowned at mischievous moves by some persons to tanish the good image of Prof Achuenu, Staff and the Polytechnic .
Dr Ogana stressed that as the Chief Executive Officer of the Institution, Prof. Achuenu was responsible for the day to day running of the school while the high handedness of Chairman of the Governing Council posed a threat to peace , security and progressive development of the Polytechnic.
The Chairman while thanking the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori led Administration for consistent fulfilment of its financial obligations, especially payment of the new minimum wage to staff .
Meanwhile t he Congress of ASUP has resolved that the Governing Council of the Polytechnic should be dissolved to enhance peaceful management of affairs in the institution.

Dr.Ogana is the Head of Department of Human Resources Development, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi–Uku.
He holds B.Sc, Public Administration, M.Sc and Ph .D Human Resource Management from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
A highly reliable and dependable man of impeccable character ,Dr Ogana has served as Course Adviser Department of Business Administration , SIWES Coordinator , Coordinator, Regular 2 Programme (4Departments)–Banking and Finance, Marketing, Production and Operation Management and Human Resource Management.
In recognition of his exceptional performance , he was elevated to the position of Head of Department of Production and Operation Management where he served for two years before he became the Head of Department, Human Resource Management in 2023 , same year he was elected as Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, DSPG, Chapter .
Dr.Ogana who has also served in i Book Review and Disciplinary Committees amongst others, is a member of Chattered Institute of Public and Local Government Administration, Nigeria Political Science Association, Nigerian Institute of Personnel Management.
A very resourceful personality determined to leave a legacy of gift of teaching , entrepreneurship,Dr. Ogana has also continued to make positive impact on the students through his philanthropy especially in the areas of paying school fees for financially handicapped students. He he also supporting youths , as an entrepreneurship teacher.
Under his watch as Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics Chairman some remarkable achievements were made and this has been acknowledged by not a few
Some of the notable achievements include: facilitation of payment of 2016_2023 outstanding arrears to staff, timely promotion of staff, prompt remittance of Pension contributions, checkmating cultism and indecent dressing, and examination malpractices.
