In a historic demonstration of intellectual prowess and global excellence, Delta State has once again etched its name in the annals of greatness as her students emerged World Champions at the prestigious World Basic School Debate Competition held in Doha, Qatar.
Today, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, warmly received the victorious team at the Government House, Asaba. The delegation, led by Elder Dare Oritu, National Coordinator of the Presidential School Debate Nigeria (PSDN), was accorded a rousing welcome befitting true ambassadors of knowledge and character.
Addressing the triumphant students, His Excellency reaffirmed the State’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, stating:
“Delta State is renowned not only for its contributions to the oil and gas sector, sports, and entertainment, but also for its unyielding pursuit of educational excellence. Today, these young champions have further reinforced that legacy by hoisting the flag of Delta State – and indeed Nigeria – on the global stage. They have made us proud as worthy ambassadors of our great State.”
In recognition of their extraordinary brilliance, resilience, and dedication, the Governor announced a cash reward of Twenty Million Naira (₦20,000,000) each to the five illustrious students:
Ikhamateh Splendour
Otovo Uyoyouoghene
Wisdom Chibuzor Chukwuma
Abraham Honour
Alika Daniel
Furthermore, the Governor extended a similar reward of ₦20,000,000 to the indefatigable team handlers whose mentorship and guidance were pivotal in this monumental achievement.
This landmark accomplishment is a testament to the transformational educational policies of the Oborevwori administration, which continues to prioritize human capital development as the bedrock of sustainable growth and innovation in Delta State.
On behalf of the good people of Delta State, I extend my profound congratulations to our world-beating students, their devoted parents, visionary coaches, and the entire technical team. Your victory has not only brought glory to our dear State but has equally inspired a new generation of leaders and innovators.
Delta State remains a beacon of academic excellence, and today, the world bears witness to this undeniable fact.
