Residents of Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government area of Delta State have called on BEDEC to sack its Regional Manager for gross inefficiency and poor customer relations.
The palpably aggrieved BEDC consumers hinged their call for the removal of the Regional Manager on his consistent failure to address the frustrating poor power supply to the Ibusa community since November 2025.
They alleged that the downgrading of Ibusa from Band “B” to “D” by the Regional Manager and his Staff without the consent of the stakeholders worsened the situation.
Ibusa Community has partnered and sacrificed quite a long for BEDC.
●They donated land for your substation at the town.
●They partnered with you in driving the Community prepaid scheme for over 8years [Community based]
● They did their best to complete the work on the 15MVA Injector substation at Ibusa
●This substation was certified to have met quality and safety standards and and energized by yourself.
●The substation has been completed and is currently under your supervision and direction.
In spite of all these sacrifices coupled with the daily repairs of work done on the various transformers and network challenges, we have never let you down.
In all these, the community complained that they have suffered and continuously suffering the worst neglect and Consideration on the epileptic power outage and unjust billing system in our various communities.
Don’t we deserve special consideration in matters of crises on account of these sacrifices?
On grounds of morality and sacrifices for BEDC, we should be ranked in same priority as
The General Steel Mill and Asaba Aluminum Company and many more on account of these exceptional sacrifices.
The President -General of Ibusa Community Development Union, ICDU, World Wide, the Youths, have also raised serious concerns on the pattern of billing in the different communities.
The Obuzor Ibusa, and the Council members,
the President General and Executives of the ICDU fixed a meeting of the stake holders and invited the Regional Manager and his BEDC Staff to discuss these burning issues and the way forward but regretably, the Regional Manager did not honour the invitation to physically attend the meeting held in the Palace of the Obuzor of Ibusa.
During a previous stakeholders meeting held in Ibusa, the Regional Manager pledged that as from February 21, most of the operational and marketing issues will be resolved but from the look of things, nothing has meaningfully changed and most of BEDEC customers have lost confidence in the system. .
Ibusa, a fast growing community in the Delta State Capital territory, has substations that assist in distribution of electric power within the community and its environs .
BEDEC had earlier moved the stepdown transformer at Ogbeowele to Edo State, under the pretext that it has been moved for repairs, and until now , the Company has not replaced it as promised.
Another attempt which was made by the same BEDC to move the mult billion Naira substation at obodoakpu, out of Ibusa was met with stiff resistance as top patriotic sons of Ibusa including the youths intervened and aborted the plan.
Where have we gone wrong?
Through the transparent and accountable leadership of the President General of Ibusa Community Development Union World Wide, Onowu Victor Uchunor and the active support of Ibusa sons and daughters at home in the diaspora, the facility was successfully completed, professionally certified and energized and currently under the use and direction by BEDC.
