Federated Union of Community Newspaper Publishers Commend Chief Uchenna Okafor For Outstanding Service Delivery

    The Federated Union of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria has commended the Director General of the Commercial State, Chief Uchenna Okafor for his excellence delivery which has enhanced relationship the operators and the state government.

    The National President of the Federated Union of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria a.k.a Great Grassroots Publishers, made the commendation at a News briefing in Asaba at the end of the National Conference of the Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria.

    Chief Uchenna okafor is a disciplined, focused, proactive young man, dilligent in service.

    He is a man of integrity and a man of the people who loves doing things with the fear of God in all he does.

    A very great servant of people, very humble to a fault, when issues came up for handling with the people of Association, he leads, he handles them with love, affection and care with great caution without talking sides.

    The COMTOA is a good man, a philanthropist par excellence, firm and transparently honest.

    Some of the achievements of Chief Uchenna Okafor, according to
    Dr. Dike Awana included strengthening of the Association.
    DG. Chief Okafor, has been bringing all members of the Association under as a responsible body to effectively drive the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and provision of identity card to every member for easy identification.
    It will be recalled that the State Government, through a letter from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government mandated the Taskforce: To organize, coordinate and supervise commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators Association in the state
    manage and collect levies from commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators enforce compliance of Delta State Color for Commercial Tricycle and to apprehend violators of the ban on motorcycle operators in restricted areas of Asaba, Effurun and Warri.

    In addition, motorcycle and tricycle riders are required to strictly adhere to the operating hours of 6AM to 8PM daily for motorcycle for unrestricted areas and 6AM to 10PM for tricycle riders.

    COMTOA Taskforce can therefore be said to be Delta State Government’s bold attempt to sanitize commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators association, re-orient values, reduce poverty, create wealth, generate employment, reduce crime and criminality among other things.
    Before he came on board, the situation was very bad due to the recalcitrant attitude of some commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators who were in the habit of breaching the law with impunity.
    However, the story has now changed for the better.
    “I must thank the security agencies, especially the Nigeria police force for the consistent cooperation, understanding. The synergy would continue to go a long way to drastically nip in the excesses of lawless operators in the bud” he said.

    In the course of one of its operations, the Task Force caught a young man in the act.
    He specializes in snatching and selling stolen tricycles.

    Since the commencement of operations, COMTOA has remained civil and transparently honest in its activities and has deployed the tools of effective public enlightenment at various to encourage the operators to always obey all the rules and regulations of government.

    In order to ensure effective operations across the state, task force units were set up to monitor and enforce compliance.
    From time to time, the COMTOA Director General, leads the taskforce operations, and this has yielded good results.

    In the past 15 months, COMTOA under his watch has been driving the Meaningful Development, Creating Opportunities for all, Implementing Realistic Reforms and Enhancing peace and security — M. O. R. E. Agenda,
    It has also made some modest achievements in rebranding the commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations, usefully engaged the services of youths including graduates, promoted peace and security, boosted government’s internally generated revenue, created awareness on the need for operators to be law abiding, created a comprehensive database of commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in the state.

    It is now mandatory for all the operators to pay prescribed government levies, wear approved aprons, identity cards and from all indications, COMTOA Director General and his team are determined to do more to support the people oriented administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
