The Delta State Government has appealed for calm following a peaceful protest by the Ibusa community over an alleged land encroachment by Ogwashi-Uku.
Addressing protesters at Government House, Asaba, the Chief of Staff, Prince Johnson Erijo, speaking for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, commended the peaceful conduct of the demonstrators and assured them that the government had already begun steps to address the dispute, even before the protest. He urged both communities to remain law-abiding, promising a fair and just resolution in the interest of peace and stability.

Representing Ibusa, Barr. Peter Lotobi said the boundary dispute had been conclusively settled by the courts—first by the High Court, then upheld by the Court of Appeal in 1982, and finally affirmed by the Supreme Court in Appeal No. SC.32/1985. He stressed that Ibusa has remained peaceful and called on the state government to enforce the court judgments to ensure justice and lasting peace.
