Prof. (Bld) Emmanuel Achuenu hails from Utue- Ogume in Ndokwa West local Government Area of Delta State. He had his primary school Education in Ishieni Primary School, Utue-Ogume and Senior School Leaving Certificate with division one Ogume Grammar School, Ogume in 1980.
As a young, brilliant man, he was retained upon graduation at Ogume Grammar School as a Teacher where he taught different subjects.
As a young man who loves education, Prof a need of education, he proceeded to Delta State Polytechnic, where he obtained his National Diploma ( ND) in Building Technology with distinction . He later proceeded to University of Jos for further Studies, where he graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Building with Second Class Honour, Upper Division. In quest for more Academic Laurels and to adequately prepare for the task ahead, he was offered automatic employment as Graduate Assistant, as one of the best graduating students in the Faculty of Environmental Science. He was offered scholarship for his higher degree programmes .
Prof.(Bld) Emmanuel also obtained Msc in Construction Management with Distinction, PhD in Vonstruction Management.
Prof. Achuenu rose through the rongs of the ladder from Graduate Assistant to Lecturer 2, lecturer 1, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and elevated to the rank of full Professor. He a Professor of Building with specialization in Construction Management.
He is a notary public for Nigeria and he belongs to several professional bodies, including -Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB), Practice Committee of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, Associate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers etc.
Prof. (Bld) Achuenu is a simple, indefatigable visionary, and reliable Administrator.
He is a man of Integrity , transparent honesty whose tenure in the Polytechnic has witnessed unprecedented developments in terms of accreditation of more academic programmes, improved staff welfare, infrastructural development.
The Delta State Polytechnic under the leadership of Prof. Achuenu has continued to make positive waves as one of the best Polytechnics in Nigeria and this accounts for the numerous awards and recognitions the institution has received over the years.
In appreciation of his immense contributions to the socio-economic development of Delta State and Nigeria ,Prof.(Bld) Emmanuel Achuenu has received awards ,honours and recognitions.
